30 October 08 - 16:41Hate, Bigotry, Projection, and The Sixth Sense
In the movie The Sixth Sense with Bruce Willis, the kid can see dead people. But the dead people don’t realize they are dead, they think they are still alive and living a normal life. To me, this is an analogy for bigotry. How? I’ll get to that. Let’s take an example from Dennis Prager:
It is the proponents of same-sex marriage who express nearly all the hate -- because in fact many of them do hate, loudly and continuously. But hate in the name of love has a long pedigree. Why should our generation be different?
Prager of course opposes same-sex marriage and supports the Proposition 8 in California. If the proposition passes, gays there won’t be allowed to marry. But in the mind of a bigot like Prager, he isn’t a bigot. In fact, he accuses the opposition to Proposition 8 of having the hate. In a sense, he is right, but not in the way you think. ...

29 October 08 - 14:54Altruism
It's so easy to bash the bad people in the world like Michelle Malkintented, Joe the Plumber, Bush, McCain, Palin, Limbaugh, etc. But sometimes some people do the right thing like refusing to lie about Obama. Now these people in Indiana won't be rewarded with a holiday, or a statue, or a parade in their honor, but they still did the right thing and they are American heroes. That's what altruism is all about.

There were a lot of great candidates, but this week will go to Ashley Todd.

It has gone too far now. Now Boehner wants to cut off all federal funding of ACORN. Of course the real election stealing would come from the Republican side. The right loves to engage in projection, that's how they get away with so much shit.

22 October 08 - 02:16Pennsylvania
I heard something crazy today that McCain is basically conceding Iowa, New Mexico, and even Colorado and focusing on Pennsylvania. I guess this means McCain is conceding the race cause he has no fucking chance of winning Pennsylvania.
Now that McCain is going to lose the election, we should turn our focus on the race 4 years down the road. I'm guessing Lousiana governor Bobby Jindal might take a crack at it and we should start finding ways to counter him if I'm right.

21 October 08 - 22:41Operation Iraqi Peace
About seven years ago, nineteen men from
a clandestine organization called Al Qaeda hijacked three airplanes bound for
American cities. Two of them reached
their destinations: the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon in
Washington, D.C. Thousands died in the
attack, a symbolic strike against American economic, military, and political
power.
About two thousand years prior, a man
taught in Galilee. He was a political,
religious, and even an economic revolutionary.
He clashed with the religious and political authorities, pitting truth against power. He submitted
to his death willingly when they could tolerate his rabble-rousing no
longer. His weapon was not a sword, but
love. He never intended to inspire a
violent revolution, but he left guidelines for how to lead a nonviolent one.
This
satyagraha,
or soul force, is the only power that can bring lasting peace to the Middle
East. ...

19 October 08 - 17:18Bad Endorsement
Am I the only one on the left who is not thrilled by Colin Powell's endorsement of Obama? I can't get the image of Powell out of my head lying to the UN about the WMD in Iraq. He held that fake vile of Anthrax and lied and lied and lied. Let's not forget he tried to cover up the My Lai massacre in Vietnam. So despite what others say, Obama should reject Powell's endorsement.

19 October 08 - 00:29Pathetic
Some right-wing blogs are hyping a Gallup poll with Obama up only by 2 on McCain nationally. When there are several polls taken, you will find one or two outliers. If you average the polls from the past week together, you will get Obama up by 6.5 points. Most presidential elections aren't even decided by that much. Plus the electoral vote shows Obama up 364-174.

17 October 08 - 23:43William Ayers
Whatever Ayers did 40 years ago is irrelevant now, he's a teacher now. Of course cause he was a terrorist once, he will be demonized his whole life. Of course Annenberg didn't give a shit he was a terrorist when he put him on his education board. Of course now that Ayers is now the scorn of the right-wingers, the roles have been reversed and he is now the victim of terror. Safety concerns have been raised about his visit to the University of Nebraska, so it was cancelled. I wonder why? Maybe it's cause the right-wing wackos have threatened his life after weeks of hate. I love Malkintented's response:
“Safety concerns.”
Whose safety?
Uh, William Ayers, you dumbass.

17 October 08 - 08:43Let the Victimization Begin
Like clockwork, the liberal blogs expose a right-wing phony and now Malintented is turning Joe the Plumber into a victim. Oh no! How dare they expose a racist, tax-evading, nut, who is now the face of the failing McCain campaign! Of course in the right-wing world, Joe is a hero so he is hands off. I wonder if Michelle would grant the same respect to the family of a 12 year with medical problems? Answer: fuck no!

16 October 08 - 08:45Joe the Plumber Hates the America Dream
McCain brought up this dude during the debate "Joe the Plumber" AKA Joe Wurzelbacher. But few know what a right-wing hack he is. I was reading this interview with some Orwellianly named organization called Family Security Matters and the dude sounds just like Limbaugh. He was complaining that Obama would tax him more cause his new plumbing business would move him into the $250,000 tax bracket. After a while of calling Obama a socialist and stuff, he starts to talk about the "American Dream."
Me personally, my American Dream was to have a house, a dog, a couple rifles, a bass boat. I believe in living life easy and simple. I don’t have grand designs. I don’t want much. I just wanna be able to take care of my family and do things with them outdoors and that’s about it, really. I don’t have a “grand scheme” thing. ...

Cindy McCain on why John doesn't get night sweats:
Oh, no, no, no, no, no. My husband, he’d be the first one to tell you that he was trained to do what he was doing. The guys who had the trouble were the 18-year-olds who were drafted. He was trained, he went to the Naval Academy, he was a trained United States naval officer, and so he knew what he was doing.
Yeah, barbie, your husband doesn't get nightsweats cause he was trained and all those poor drafted kids got PTSD. Well, at least those drafted kids don't have the mental illness John does. McCain might not get nightsweats, but he gets wet dreams at the thought of bombing Iran.

Looks like McCain big moment to expose Obama's pork project have touched some nerves.
Even if you don't like the idea of a projector at the Adler Planetarium that costs 3 million dollars, just put that dollar amount into context.
There are 300 million Americans.
Each person in the country would contribute one penny towards it.
Now compare that to the trillions spent on war and bailing out Wall Street and I think McCain should have better priorities than bashing a few necessary pork projects.

01 October 08 - 10:33Nice Try Malkintented
In order to save Palin's ass, Malkintented is smearing the debate moderator as some how "in the tank" for Obama. So if Palin comes across as stupid and rambling, blame the moderator. Nice try, you can't make Palin suddenly smarter by just blaming the moderator. I also like how Malkintented uses the term "in the tank"; didn't McCain's campaign use that term against the New York Times? Hmmm.

12 September 08 - 19:47Jesus Walks
“
To
the hustlers, killers, murderers, drug dealers, even the strippers: Jesus walks
with them!”
Have we reached the point at which Kanye
West understands Jesus’ message better than many Christians? I believe in this
sentence from his song “Jesus Walks” he summarizes some of the most important
social lessons Jesus taught. This verse
is a very poignant one to me. Its lessons are not adequately embodied in modern Christianity, especially
the conservative branches.
Is there anything of theological value
to extract from this verse? I believe
there are two points summarized nicely in this simple sentence. 1) God is with even the worst of
sinners. 2) Jesus’ message destroys
social barriers we’ve built between the respectable and the pariahs.
Chapter 9 of the Gospel of Matthew finds
Jesus eating dinner in a house with tax collectors and sinners. We might think of it as a slum; a
lot of undesirables were crowding around Jesus, a ...
